Trilogy….I guess its a book report
So I read The Hunger Games trilogy on the kindle and…I was greatly surprised with the first two books to where they blended so well together that it was intentionally seamless. You should read them, a great story with a great beginning and middle.
If you want to continue reading this there may be ****some spoilers ahead****
Now to my recent gripe, Mockingjay, the last installment was pretty epic at the beginning. However, the story lost me towards the end. I normally am fine with romantic plots but this one, I hated. It ruined the entire story. I’m sure everyone else is going to say “aww it was so nice” whatever….I don’t believe in building a relationship out of bullshit, lies and pity. That’s what I saw that relationship was. Mind you, the other possible person kind of blew it, figuratively and literally. It was like, the main character was settling. Why couldn’t they go a different direction instead of a “and they lived unhappily ever after”? The protagonist was completely independent and little by little became much of a shell of their former self, utter chaos and total destruction right?
I dunno…that’s how I felt about the ending. I’ve read a few other dystopian books like The Handmaids Tale and 1984, and I liked that their ending didn’t play on the heartstrings since their love affairs usually ended tragically. Then, I have to remind myself that these characters in The Hunger Games are young and not bitter like I seem to be. But come on. I felt like if I wasted 2 days of my time on this story. Ugh and don’t get me started on the damn remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
